ABEG MY PEOPLE!!! NA CHEERCH OR NA CHURCH?

Lets just say I found myself in the company of  a British, 2 Ghanians, and my chatty self.
So one of the Ghanians asked the british guy ...you know out of nothing to gist about
"Are you going to CHERCH tomorrow"

The British guy did not understand what the Ghanian lady was talking about.
He was like "Sorry? What did you just say?"

The Ghanian lady was like "CHERCH !!CHERCH!! Don't you know what CHERCH is?"
British guy was already looking confused, embarrassed -trying to be polite, I felt I had to save the situation.

In a polite calm way oh - I said "She's trying to ask if you''ll be going to CHUUUURCH tomorrow".
Oh boy, come see argument - "...... Blah! Blah! The right pronunciation is Cherch. Its spelt Church but the right pronunciation is Cherch......and so on and so forth.
The conclusion then - which I do not think is correct is that one is American English and one is British English - FOWL!! FOWL!! FOWL!! FOWWWL!
I know very well that the British people don't do all these -'chercch', 'Kartin'(Curtain), 'Werk'(work) thing.
And I have watched a few but enough American movies to know that is not American accent.
Abeg, where my Ghanian brothers see that kind accent wey dem fit defend in front of Queen Elizabeth.
At least we Nigerians know that our accent is not nice and we try to improve or even form Fone(Phonetics). If any one should correct a typical Nigerian's English. She'll be glad to take correction and spread the word.

"hon hon!! don't say sit on your chair - you say - set on your chair".
"IBON!! It is not Staff of the School. It is Staffers, Ok? Staffers of the school"....

Lai lai my Ghanian brothers will defend their "werk" and "Cherch" till the end ni men.

Abeg what's your take on this?
